The Ford Family Foundation Announces New Program Officer

Keavy Cook, formerly Field Coordinator for the RARE program (Resource Assistance for Rural Environments) at the University of Oregon, will join The Ford Family Foundation as Program Officer on March 5, 2008. Keavy received her M.A. in Community and Regional Planning with a graduate certificate in nonprofit management from the U of O and a B.A. in Philosophy (magna cum laude) from the University of New Hampshire. She and her husband, Max Gimbel, who works for Rural Development Initiatives, Inc. (RDI), are relocating to Roseburg with their infant son, Leo.

Keavy filled the Program Officer position previously held by Joyce Akse since July 2005.  Joyce assumed responsibilities as Associate Director of the Ford Institute effective December 1, 2007. This position is new to the Institute as a key piece of the Institute’s business plan. Joyce will provide leadership for the many classes offered across Oregon and Siskiyou County by the Ford Institute Leadership Program, as well as for the Institute’s assistance grants and resources programs. Joyce has been an organizational consultant and is a facilitator for “The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People” based on the best selling book by Stephen Covey.  She received her bachelor’s degree from Arizona State University and her master’s degree from the University of California, Los Angeles.
