Regence Foundation Donates $50,000 to Aid Haiti Relief Efforts
Donation made to Medical Teams International will support humanitarian aid efforts
January 18, 2010
PORTLAND, Ore. – To support relief efforts for the people of Haiti, The Regence Foundation donated $50,000 to Medical Teams International, a humanitarian aid organization that dispatches teams of doctors and trained volunteers to provide medical assistance to areas throughout the world. The organization has already deployed teams to the region to provide desperately needed help.
“It is difficult to comprehend the loss of life in Haiti and the damage that occurred so quickly and so unexpectedly,” said Mark Ganz, President and CEO of Regence BlueCross BlueShield. “Regence serves a community of millions of members in the Northwest and Intermountain states, but especially at times like these, I am reminded that we are part of a closely connected global community. Medical Teams International’s mission to provide care to people in need aligns with our own focus, and supporting the organization’s efforts is the ideal way to assist those struck by this tragedy.”
