Financial/Accounting Associate Needed for Meyer Memorial Trust
Reports to: Comptroller
Organization: Meyer Memorial Trust – a private foundation located in Portland Oregon that awards grants to nonprofit organizations located throughout the state of Oregon and Clark County, Washington.
Main Job Tasks and Responsibilities
The F/AA is responsible for assisting in analyzing financial information, applying accounting principles and procedures to prepare accurate and timely financial reports and ensure appropriate accounting control procedures.
- to work as a valued member of the accounting/finance department including cross-training
- assisting, compiling, and analyzing financial information to prepare monthly, annual, and year end closing reports
- assist with audit preparation and prepare audit letters
- maintain departmental records
- gather data and complete surveys as requested by chief financial officer/comptroller
- assisting and monitoring the maintenance of financial control policies and procedures
- resolve finance/accounting discrepancies and irregularities
- process accounts payables including account analysis, subsidiary ledgers, and maintain hard copy files
- assist in preparation & coordination of roundtable conference
- take notes and summarize information discussed at the Roundtable Conference to provide record & history
- assist in analyzing financial information and recommend efficient uses of resources and procedures and provide strategic recommendations for business and financial problems
Education and Experience
- finance or accounting degree or equivalent
- knowledge of economic principles
- knowledge of applicable laws, codes, and regulations
- knowledge and experience of related computer applications
- a minimum of 3 years experience in the management of financial systems and budgets, financial reporting, financial data analysis, and providing financial advise
