In Oregon and around the nation, funders often come together to advance their missions and increase their impact. Collaboratives form for information exchange, co-learning, strategic alignment (both formal and informal), joint ventures, and pooled funding*. When should your foundation consider forming a collaborative? What should you take into consideration? What can you expect if you join a collaborative?
Panelists representing three notable Oregon funder collaboratives (Foundations for a Better Oregon; Get Ready, Get Set, Go: Building Capacity in Oregon’s CASA Chapters; and the Early Childhood Funders Collaborative) will explore questions such as when collaboratives makes sense, effective use of time, coordination and staffing needs, building trust, levels of participation, large and small funder partnerships, relationship to grantees and prospective grantees, exit strategies, and more.
